By Harold Kushner [more]
The Book of the Month: A book that attacks the most essential question we all face – the meaning of life. (How’s that for starting off heavy?) Harold Kushner, who has since become my rabbi in some manner of speaking, wrote a book in the late 1980s called
Book Title: When All You've Ever Wanted Isn't Enough
Essence of the book: Most of us, red blooded Americans, pursue money, fame and pleasure with the idea that it will satisfy our hunger for meaning. And yet strangely, it never does. Kushner looks at each, then looks deeper and finds that the only truly satisfying things we’ll ever do relate to others.
A favorite quote: "When you carry out acts of kindness you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something inside your body responds and says, yes, this is how I ought to feel."
