Essence of the music/lyrics: This seeming song of faith from modern secular symbol Dave Matthews surprised me until I listened more closely. His point is what so many - faithful and not - find in the story of Jesus; that in the midst of violence and hatred, his only solution was LOVE. Matthews punch line, "so should love be for you and me."
